Bishop David Oyedepo, the Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Regents of Covenant University, and founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, , has revealed that he had understudied nine world-class foreign universities, including Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, Caltech, MIT, Stanford, Duke, and Dartmouth, to establish Covenant University.
Covenant University, founded by Oyedepo, has achieved a remarkable milestone, emerging as Nigeria’s best and sixth in West Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa in the Times Higher Education World Universities Ranking 2025.
The university’s impressive ranking was announced during its 19th Convocation ceremony held at its campus in Ota, Ogun State.
Oyedepo leveraged the insights gained from these institutions to craft the university’s core values, resulting in unique products.
According to him, this strategic approach has paid off, as Covenant University solidifies its position as a leading institution in Nigeria and West Africa, providing students with top-notch education.
He said, “While nothing was copied, a lot of inspiration was drawn from those studies, which eventually led to the crafting of our core values, making our products very unique.”
“My passion came alive to provide an alternative education, in terms of quality, that would rescue these young individuals from lifelong crises.”
