‘We Shall Meet In Court’ – Onanuga fires back at Obi, threatening N5bn lawsuit

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Communications and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga has responded to a threat by Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, to sue him for defamation.

Onanuga recently shared a post on his X account claiming that Peter Obi and his supporters were responsible for the planned Hunger and Hardship protests against Tinubu administration and that Obi should be arrested for anarchy.

Reacting to Onanuga accusation, Obi, in a letter signed by his lawyer, Alex Ejesieme, to Onanuga, urged the presidential spokesman to retract the statement and tender an unreserved apology to him within 72 hours. Obi also demanded N5 billion in damages from Onanuga over the said allegation.

Onanuga responded in a post via his official X handle on Tuesday, asserting that he still awaits the letter from Obi’s lawyer threatening a N5bn lawsuit.
