Appeal court upholds gov Uzodinma’s election victory

Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has dismissed the appeal by the People Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Samuel Anyawu, challenging the decision of the Imo State tribunal that affirmed Hope Uzodinma’s election.

 

The court struck down the appeal filed by Achonu Nneji, Labour party candidate, and Allied Peoples Movement for lacking merit, resolving all challenges formulated against the appellants in the suit.

 

The appellants were displeased with the verdict citing that Uzodinma’s WAEC Certification of Education was forged, reached out the court of appeal on grounds that the November 11, 2023 election, was invalid because of non-compliance with the provision of the Electoral Act.

 

The court of appeal while delivering judgment discovered that the appellants failed to prove their allegation on Uzodinma’s  forged certificate.

 

The three-man panel led by Justice Bitrus Sanga also held that the appellants failed, to prove their allegations.
