Fear gripped in Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory as fire engulfed at the Mainland Oil and Gas filling station in Kubwa, Abuja.
The fire incident which was widely spread was reportedly caused by a tanker discharging fuel at the filling station caught fire during the process around 5:30pm.
FCT Fire Service and the Nigerian police were mobilised at the scene including FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh were all mobilised to the scene. According to Josephine Adeh, police spokesperson, there was no record of death and the fire has been taken under control.
In reacting to the fire outbreak at Mainland Oil and Gas filling station in Kubwa, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, said mobilised police patrol teams from Kubwa division and personnel of PMF 50 alongside operatives of the Federal Fire Service responded swiftly at the scene to possibly rescue victims, extinguish the fire, and protect other assets of the filling station from being engulfed.
preliminary investigation disclosed that the tanker discharging fuel actually caught fire, but with the swift response from the fire service, police operatives and members of the public, they were able to put everything under control although the tanker was completely burned.
The cause of the fire is still unkown but the situation is now very much under control, as the fire has been extinguished preventing more damages.
