Felix Morka, the All Progressives Congress’ National Publicity Secretary, has stated that it is incorrect for anyone to compare the struggles facing Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the party’s National Chairman, to the political gamesmanship that resulted in the expulsion of the National Working Committee, led by Adams Oshiomhole, from the party secretariat.
Felix Morka, the All Progressives Congress’ national publicity secretary, made the declaration on Thursday on Arise TV in response to queries about Ganduje’s suspension.
At a national convention held in Abuja, Oshiomhole, a former national chairman of the party, and other members of the NWC were elected to four years of office, from 2018 to 2022.
However, the party’s leadership was disbanded two years into its term, a move that former APC acting chairman Ntufam Eta alleged was made to thwart Bola Tinubu’s (now-presidential) presidential ambitions.
In response to concerns that Ganduje might be moving in the same direction, Morka emphasised that the circumstances were distinct.
Contrary to what occurred in Oshiomhole’s case, the APC press secretary claimed, those advocating for Ganduje’s suspension were not acknowledged party members.
“No, if you understand the facts of what happened to Oshiomhole, it is not familiar,” he remarked. They cannot be compared. They are completely distinct from one another. When Oshiomhole was the national chairman of the party, party officials were among those engaged in the attempt to suspend him and take all necessary measures within the organisation.
“At that point, nobody could have publicly declared that these people are not lawful officers, In response to a plea for an interlocutory injunction demanding Oshiomhole’s ouster as APC national chairman, a Federal High Court in the Federal Capital Territory requested that Oshiomhole stand down in March 2020.
According to Justice Danlami Senchi, the former governor of Edo should continue to be suspended while the lawsuit is being resolved.
Senchi added that Oshiomhole should not have been allowed to be chairman of the ruling party after his state APC chapter suspended him in November 2019.
“As far as I’m aware, nobody could have declared publicly at that moment that these people are not actually party officers. Therefore, it is a distinct discussion to have whether they were acting voluntarily or were coerced into doing that. I won’t talk about it either. However, they belonged to the party.
“We are observing individuals in Kano who we know are not party officials in this specific instance. On Wednesday, the individual who allegedly read the suspension showed up in person at the party secretary to clarify that he neither participated in the action against the national chairman nor gave permission for any attorney to file a lawsuit on his behalf.Who the hell was the person who appeared in court, then, since the person whose name has been completely revealed is the same person who claims he didn’t? That is the query.
The distinction lies in the fact that our national chairman was suspended by outright forgeries, who then went to court to try and legitimise their illegal and criminal actions. Therefore, I just want to be sure that it is understood that these people are not operating on behalf of the ward in any foreign country and are not authorised. They must cease since, when the dust settles, their actions will have repercussions.
