Suspended EFCC boss whisked away from DSS Hqtr

Abdulrasheed Bawa, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman who has been placed on administrative leave, has transferred from the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters in Abuja to an unidentified private facility.

After allegedly refusing to cooperate with the secret police when they sought statements from him while he was in their custody, it was learned that the embattled suspended anti-graft agency leader was transferred to another location so that authorities could have complete control over him.

 

 

Bawa allegedly informed investigators earlier that the DSS had no authority to hold him without charges, which is why he refused to record any remarks while being held.

But on Tuesday, a source who reportedly discussed the situation   that Bawa had left the DSS headquarters. to one of its private facilities.

 

According to the top security source who requested anonymity, “they’ve taken Bawa from DSS headquarters to one of their private facilities to have total control over him after he refused to write statements requested from him.”

 

 

Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and Bawa have both been detained.

A few days after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inauguration as Muhammadu Buhari’s successor, the pair were suspended by the president.

 

Bawa and Emefiele are charged with official misconduct and engaging in corrupt behavior.
