Tems Thanks Seyi Sodimu for ‘Love Me Jeje’ Following Grammy Win

Grammy winner,  Temilade Openiyi, aka Tems, has expressed gratitude to veteran singer Seyi Sodimu for allowing her to sample his 1997 hit, Love Me Jeje in her award-winning track of the same title.

Following her historic Best African Music Performance win at the 67th Grammy Awards, Tems took to X on Monday to celebrate her achievement and acknowledge Sodimu’s contribution.

 

She described Love Me Jeje as a “timeless classic”, adding that she is thrilled the song is now receiving well-deserved recognition through her version.

 

“I just want to thank the wonderful @seyimusic for his role in the support and clearing of his OG song Love Me Jeje,” she wrote. “It’s brought the original song back to life for me, and I’m glad that it’s getting its flowers today. A timeless classic.”

 

Tems’ Love Me Jeje triumphed over strong contenders, including Yemi Alade’s “Tomorrow,” Asake & Wizkid’s “MMS,” Chris Brown’s “Sensational” featuring Davido & Lojay, and Burna Boy’s “Higher.”

 

With this win, Tems continues to solidify her status as one of Africa’s most celebrated artists on the global stage.
