Boko-Haram terrorists on Monday attacked Nigerian troops of the 112 battalion in the Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State and killed a Nigerian soldier.
According to security sources, the soldier was killed when the terrorists attacked a military base tagged Tango 19.
Also killed by the gunmen was a lady identified as the girlfriend of the deceased who was reportedly sneaked into the camp the previous night.
“An incident happened early this morning to our troops at 112 battalion in Mafa LGA Borno State. Boko Haram attacked our Tango 19 and killed one soldier.
“They also killed one girl the soldier secretly brought to the camp last night,” one of the sources Said.
Nigeria has been battling with insurgents in the North-East region for about two decades now.
Efforts to reach the army spokesperson, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, for comments on his mobile failed.
