Afrobeats star, Davido’s performance thrilled the audience at the United Bank for Africa’s 75th anniversary on Tuesday.
The bank’s anniversary was held during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
At the event, Davido delivered a spectacular and vibrant performance from his classic hit songs including ‘Risky’, ‘Skelewu’ and ‘Aye’.
Tony Elumelu, chairman of the UBA, and Vice-President Kashim Shettima were at the UN event.
Shettima spoke at the UNGA on behalf of President Bola Tinubu. The president called for permanent seats for Nigeria and Africa on the UN security council.
“The security council should be expanded, in the permanent and non-permanent member categories, to reflect the diversity and plurality of the world. We fully support the efforts of secretary-general Guterres in this regard,” Tinubu said.
“Africa must be accorded the respect that it deserves in the security council. Our continent deserves a place in the permanent members category of the security council, with the same rights and responsibilities as other permanent members.”
Born David Adeleke, Davido rose to fame in 2012 after releasing ‘Dami Duro’, the second single from his debut studio album ‘Omo Baba Olowo’.
Since the release of his debut album, he has delivered three other projects including ‘A Good Time’ (2019), ‘A Better Time‘ (2020), and ‘Timeless’ (2023).
