Imo State governor, Hope Uzodinma on Monday, sworn in 10 judges for the state’s High Court and Customary Court of Appeal.
Uzodimma, at the swearing ceremony urged the judges to uphold integrity and honour in the discharge of their duties, also the governor gifted Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to the newly sworn-in judges.
While seven of the judges are for the State High Court, three are for the Customary Court of Appeal.
The governor who gifted the newly sworn-in judges, said his administration emphasized on state’s judiciary welfare because society depends on justices for stability.
Uzodinma added “I have always prioritized the judiciary’s welfare and upheld the institution because by virtue of their roles, the society depends on justice for stability, hence they must be supported in carrying out their responsibilities with utmost seriousness and ethical conduct.”
Hope Uzodinma also advised members of the public against putting judges under pressure for them to fulfill their duties without fear of favour.the judiciary is under intense public scrutiny and they must conduct themselves impeccably, as they are the last hope of the common man. In supporting them as a society, we must avoid pressuring the Judges, allowing them to fulfill their duties impartially and effectively.”
10 justices must fear God and serve the citizens with “integrity, dignity, and the fear of God in their duties.” the governor added.
