President of Kenya, William Ruto has dismissed his cabinet amidst protest.
President Ruto in a televised addressed on thursday made this announcement few weeks after widespread of protest demanding for his resignation.
According to Ruto he has decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the cabinet secretaries and the Attorney General of the cabinet of Kenya, except the prime cabinet secretary and cabinet secretary for diaspora affairs.
The president also promised that there would be extensive consultations across different sectors and political formations to set up a “broad-based” government that will assist him in dealing with the burden of debt, raising domestic resources, eliminating waste and corruption in government and expanding job opportunities for the youth.
This cabinet dissolution does not affect the Office of the Vice President and the Prime Cabinet Secretary, he said.
