APC urges fg to declare state of emergency in rivers over escalating violence

The All Progressives Congress Rivers State leadership has pleaded with the federal government to declare the state of emergence in Rivers State.

The party issued the statement on Wednesday, claiming that a full-fledged conflict is underway.

At a media meeting in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Chief Tony Okocha, the chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee, made the announcement.

There is war in Rivers State, he declared. Furthermore, the dramatis personae accountable for the carnage that has claimed lives are known.

“Both the government and the biassed police are powerless. Consequently, in an effort to contain the chaos and escalation occurring in the state, the APC in Rivers State is requesting the declaration of a state of emergency.

 

“I urge the federal government to take swift action in this matter.”
