President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to join forces in combating banditry and terrorism, emphasizing that this is the most effective way to eradicate poverty and suffering in the country.
He made this statement in Lagos on Monday while receiving a delegation from the National Assembly, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the President stressed that Nigerians must adopt a new value system to drive progress. He acknowledged that poverty and suffering exist, but emphasized that Nigeria is not alone in facing these challenges.
To address these issues, President Tinubu advocated for the elimination of banditry and terrorism, enabling farmers to cultivate and transport food without hindrance. He also highlighted the need for citizens to shift from a rent-seeking mindset to a more productive and economic-sabotage-free approach.
The President commended the National Assembly’s leadership for their support, which has contributed to notable achievements by his administration. He expressed pride in having a collaborative partnership with the National Assembly and reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to overcoming the nation’s challenges and ensuring its survival.
