6 dead, 7 injured as driver runs into traders in Jigawa

In the Miga Local Government Area of Jigawa State, in Sabon Garin Takanebu, there was an automobile accident that resulted in the confirmed deaths of six individuals and the critical injuries of seven others.

 

In a statement released on Thursday, June 13, 2024, the State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Lawan Adam, confirmed the incident. He stated that the crash occurred on Wednesday at Sabon Garin Takanebu, Miga LGA, when the driver of a Mitsubishi Canter with license plate XA 519 KUR lost control and collided with vendors at a market.

 

 

“The incident occurred when the driver lost control upon arriving at Sabon Gari Market and collided with traders, causing 10 people to suffer varying degrees of injuries and three people to pass away immediately,” the statement read;

 

“A team of policemen rushed to the scene and conveyed the corpses and the injured to the Jahun General Hospital.

“However, three additional persons also died on the way to the hospital. They were confirmed dead by a medical doctor, bringing the total number of deaths to six, while the remaining seven victims are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.”

 

According to the PPRO, the bodies have been returned to their kin so they may be buried properly.

 

He continued by saying that an investigation is being conducted to find out what caused the mishap.

 

Lawan stated that A.T. Abdullahi, the state’s commissioner of police, has sent his sympathies to the families of the deceased and urged drivers to drive cautiously since anyone found driving carelessly will be arrested and prosecuted.
