Edo Assembly in a boisterous session as speaker suspends 3 members

The Edo State House of Assembly has suspended three members.

This was said on Monday by Speaker of the Assembly Blessing Agbebaku.

Due to an alleged attempt to remove him and other POCs from the Principal Officers Council, the members were suspended.

Remember that during plenary, the three lawmakers were suspended.

Two members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are suspended.

The legislators are Iyamu Bright, PDP, Orhionnwon II; Addeh Emankhu Isibor, APC, Esan North-East I; and Okogbe Ojeneh Donald, PDP, Akoko-Edo II.

Agbebaku claimed that the three had planned to overthrow the current house leader and announced that they were suspended permanently.

He said that outside powers were influencing the three suspended members in an attempt to destabilise the group and overthrow its leadership.

Additionally, he claimed that on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at midnight, some people brought in indigenous doctors to do some demonic incantations and sprinkle charms in the assembly facility.

However, because the MPs in question objected to their suspension, there was conflict in the parliament over their suspension.

The three MPs who had been suspended were heard yelling, “Mr. Speaker, you do not have the right to unilaterally suspend any member(s) of the house,” during a boisterous meeting.

“You have to ask for votes. They yelled, “Let members vote on the matter.”

The speaker then abruptly adjourned plenary.
