Protesters overwhelm the EFCC, call for a reopening of Matawalle’s investigation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in response to protests, has been urged to resume its investigation into Bello Matawalle, the former governor of the state.

Matawalle was Zamfara State’s previous governor.

To make the demand, the demonstrators on Friday rushed the EFCC offices’ gate.

Channels TV reports that the demonstrators demand that the EFCC look into every petition filed against the former governor on behalf of the APC Loyalists Forum.

This includes the purported N70 billion contract diversion that occurred while he was the state’s governor.

The protest letter purportedly came from the chairman to Wilson Uwujaren, the Director of Public Affairs at the EFCC.

He gave the demonstrators the reassurance that the EFCC is committed to seeing every case of corruption through to the end.
