Kano students feared dead as boat capsizes

It is believed that the two Audu Bako College of Agriculture students from Danbatta who boarded a canoe on Thursday are dead.

In the centre of Makoda Local Government Area, Kano State’s Thomas Dam, the canoe they had boarded overturned.

However, one kid, Abubakar Salisu, was saved, according to Daily Trust, and the hunt went on for the other students.

The event happened on Tuesday morning, April 30, 2024, while the students were returning to the college, according to Makoda LGA Sani Muhammadu’s information officer.

He claimed that during a rescue effort, the body of one of the students, Abubakar Sanusi, was found.

Sani reported that Ado Salisu, the other student, had not yet been located when the rescue effort was put on hold, but that it will resume this morning.

He claims that Hassan Haruna, the canoe’s driver, survived the incident.

The information officer’s reports were confirmed by a Danbatta local named Abba Muhammad, who also mentioned that the student who was saved was responding to treatment at Danbatta General Hospital.

The school is roughly five km from the dam where the horrible catastrophe occurred.

Two students’ deaths in the boat accident were confirmed in a post by Aliyu Hamisu Dambatta.
