Wike vs Fubara: Former AG for the Rivers declines appointment

The Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Zacchaeus Adangor, has declined to be redeployed as the Commissioner for Special Duties.

Zacchaeus resigned from the state executive council as well.

According to the Daily Post, Zacchaeus resigned from his role as the state’s attorney general on December 14 in response to a confrontation between Governor Sim Fubara and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.

However, after being reaffirmed by the State House of Assembly, Zacchaeus and other commissioners who had resigned because of the political unrest in the state were accepted back into the government.

Earlier in the week, Fubara reorganised his cabinet and assigned Zacchaeus to a new position as the governor’s office’s commissioner for special duties.

Zacchaeus declined his new position in a letter to the Secretary of the Rivers State government that was seen by DAILY POST.

Strong Wike ally Zacchaeus charged Governor Fubara of interfering with his ability to carry out his responsibilities as the state’s attorney general in his resignation letter.
