The Federal Government has put former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello on watchlist.
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has been directed to apprehend him at all points of entry and departure after alerting the nation’s security agencies.
Kemi Nanna Nandap, the Comptroller General of Immigration Service, made this revelation in a memo.
The letter was directed to the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
Bello’s foreign passport data were contained in the memo signed by ACI DS Umar.
“I am directed to inform you that the above named person has been placed on watch list,” part of the text stated.
“It suffices to add that, as per letter Ref; CR; 3000/EFCC/LS/EGCS.1/TE/V1/279 dated 18 April 2024, the subject is being prosecuted before the Federal High Court Abuja for conspiracy, breach of trust, and money laundering. He should be taken into custody and reported to the Director of Investigations, or contacted at 08036226329 or 07039617304, if he is observed at any point of entry or departure.
“Please accept the warmest regards and esteem of the Comptroller General, as always.”
This comes shortly after Bello was listed as sought on Thursday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
