“All police convoys across the nation, including mine must obey traffic regulations” – IGP

The IGP stressed during his remarks at the meeting that the upkeep of law and order and the protection of people’s lives and property are the police’s essential responsibilities.

Traffic laws must now be followed by all police patrol vehicles.

The directive was issued by Kayode Egbetokun, the country’s acting inspector general of police, as part of efforts to ensure the adequate security of residents’ lives and property.

During a meeting with the Squadron Commanders of the Police Mobile Force, PMF, and Special Protection Unit, SPU, on Monday at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Egbetokun gave the order.

In his remarks to the gathering, the IGP highlighted that upholding law and order and safeguarding people’s lives and property should be taken serious.

According to him, police officers must scrupulously abide by the police code of conduct and behave themselves in a way that earns the public’s respect.

Egbetokun disclosed that a special committee chaired by the DIG Operations had been established to address banditry, abduction, insurgency, and other security issues impacting the nation.
