Aminat Yusuf, a record-breaking first-class law graduate from Lagos State University (LASU), has been given automatic employment by the Edo State Government.
The offer was consistent with the Godwin Obaseki administration’s objective of providing automatic employment to Edo natives who graduate with a First Class in any university, according to Edo Deputy Governor Comrade Philip Shaibu.
Aminat is an Agenebode native who lives in the Edo North region’s Etsako East Local Government Area.
With a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 5.0 in the law faculty, the academic prodigy became LASU’s best-ever graduate.
Shaibu said he was pleased to see the genius, who was accompanied by his father, Ibrahim Yusuf of The Nation newspaper; his wife, Hajia Halimat Yusuf; and Abibu Obadan, a prominent official and law instructor at LASU expressed his pride in the law graduate’s outstanding performance in breaking the LASU record that had stood for 40 years.
The Deputy Governor observed that despite Yusuf’s poor upbringing, she defied all obstacles to get a First-Class grade and also gave her a letter of praise.
Aminat Yusuf, he claimed, “has exemplified the ‘I can do’ spirit of the resourceful Edo man and woman, the attitude that a son or daughter of a nobody can become someone,” as a result of her excellent achievement.
The praise she has received since the story has spread has inspired not just her family but also the fine people of Etsako East Local Government and, in fact, the entire state of Edo. She has our admiration.
The current administration will continue to prioritize quality and efficiency under the direction of my elder brother, Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki.
“I want to congratulate Miss Aminat Yusuf on being an ambassador for our dear Edo State and for distinguishing herself in her academic pursuits on behalf of the governor, the government, and the good people of Edo State. She has earned a reputation as a role model for young women and girls in Edo State and beyond Nigeria.
The father of the great graduate credited his daughter’s success to hard effort, wise professors, and divine direction.
Aminat thanked her parents for encouraging and inspiring her to accomplish the achievement. Her mother is a businesswoman and her father is a business correspondent for The Nation.
