Do these things if you must ‘japa’ – Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri, a former presidential assistant, has used social media to offer advice to young Nigerians who are yearning to escape their country.

He advised considering the expense before making travel arrangements to “Japa.”

Although Omokri insisted that he is not urging young people to stay in the nation, he advised them to do so carefully.

Even without being invited, you are welcome to stay with your family. That cannot be attempted abroad. Your brother might report you to the police. They have strict boundaries and are quite individualistic.

“While it may take a village to raise a child in Africa, children frequently have to raise themselves in Europe and America due to the fact that both parents work and weekends are often spent at McD’s movies, football stadiums, or museums.

In addition, he continued, “parents grow old and are dumped in an old peoples home, so their children can live their lives, because children are not taught to appreciate family ties.”

Community life is valued in Africa, but is discouraged in the West, according to Omokri. Many kids have never even met their cousins. And neighbors may pass away in their homes for weeks without anyone knowing.

Naturally, your relatives in another country will want you to believe that they are better off than you. Human nature as it exists today is competitive. To be in a cooperative attitude, one must be enlightened.

“Young people in the West generally have little concern for your age. And if you don’t intentionally teach your kids to respect their elders, they’ll grow up to be just like the other youngsters they hang out with. Yes, both their IQ and awareness levels are really high. However, their EQ may be rather low.

“And if you are the kind of person who despises your culture and language, you WILL have children who despise themselves in other countries and instinctively despise any African with an accent. When an African speaks in their own tongue and dons traditional attire, their contempt deepens.

“Consider a time when you visited your hometown and received special treatment,” Omokri continued. Consider going to see family and how they literally killed the fattened chicken or goat just to welcome you.

Running to the gate shouting ‘Daddy oyoyo’. Let the rivalry between Ebenezer Obey and Sunny Ade on the one hand, and that between Sikiru Ayinde Barrister and Ayinla Kollington, bring back memories of all the Fuji ropopo you danced. Life in Africa is sweet ,” he said.
